Lego Party

Since I was sooo busy this past couple weeks I didn't really do any planning or stressing- LOVED THAT!  But guess what it turned out just fine.

I set up a couple tables downstairs for LEGO PLAY, my daughter's room was the Art and Craft rea, the living room was where they could play Lego Rock Band (very fun).  The kitchen was for the adults.

I downloaded invites from Lego.com and also invited friends on Facebook- made an event!

There was a cool site out that was far more into it than I was:
http://www.burbmom.net/how-to-throw-a-lego-party/

The party started at 3pm- free play, 4pm- pizza times, 4:30- gifts/cake eating and 5 was suppose to end of the party but it kept going to till 10pm. LOL! The adults I think had more fun than anyone :0. Fun was had by all!

The only thing I regret is I TOOK NO PICTURES! I busy with the party to think about pictures...UGH!

Wow...LONG Week- Need to Catch Up.

It's been over a week since my last post but it feels like a month.  I've been super duper busy and now I'm paying for it!  I'm falling behind and I hope I'll be okay for Christmas.

Last Saturday I help run the school's 1st Holiday Bazaar.  I tried all I could to get people there but hey a "1st Annual" might not sound has exciting as a "20th Annual" and man there were all events happening in the area.  We did fine though. My kids had a blast and made $30 each- making their own Xmas cards.  I'll take a picture and post soon.  My son drew his very own "Wimpy Kid" Xmas card.

Sunday~ worked my butt off at the cafe.  Then came home to a house smelling like crab.  My hubby was making a GUMBO.  My friends came by through out the night and I felt the LOVE.  The Gumbo was yummy!!! My hubby was so proud and that he should be.  My mom tried it for the first time and didn't quite understand why the crab was still in the shell.

Monday~ Well it was my 42 b'day and I had a GREAT DAY!  Mocha's was delivered to my house by a sweet friend of mine.  My mom took me to get my nails/toes done and that was perfect.  For a brief second I felt like a WOMAN not just a mom!  Hubby and I went out on a date and I had a couple drinks.

Wednesday~ My son's 9th B'day.  I had to work all day but he had a blast with grandma.  Last day of Mom's visit.  We took her to airport and she was charged sooooo much for her car rental so that was the icing on her trip down here.  Man did I feel bad!  I wanted her to have a great time but it was one thing after another plus her back was out- who could enjoy that!

Thursday~ Babysat in the morning and took care of a sick lil girl.

Friday- Got called into work...sigh.  Had big plans but hey if I can help out I will!  Needed to start getting ready for the PARTY on Saturday.

Saturday....LEGO PARTY!

LOVE the colors!  I would take out the bench though.  I love this blue, black, pink, white together.  Would my husband let me decorate like this...NO!  He told me to STOP putting pink in every room.

Lego Party Ideas-Need them :)

My son wants to have a LEGO PARTY.  His best friend had a Lego party last month and its all he has been talking about.  I'm just lost in what to do. I know of course have a lot of Lego's so everyone can build something.

I did some searching last online and came across a couple games:
~ Guess how many Lego's in a jar kind of thing.
~ Who can build the tallest Lego structure in so many minutes.

I have a wonderful friend looking into making a Lego cake for him.

I guess decorating in bright primary colors- blue, green, yellow, red!

We will order pizza for the food but I do want to have some other munchies...would love some more ideas about that!

If anyone has thrown a Lego party can you please leave some ideas for this mom who just can't think of much!

Tangled~The Movie

Taking the kids to Tangled tonight.  I was suppose to take them this weekend but I was sick so I'm going to surprise them when I pick them up from after-school.

They took such great care of me this weekend that I want to make good on my promise of taking them to the movies.  The next couple weekends are OUT since we are booked.

I'll let you know how it went!

REVIEW:  OMG...what a wonderful movie.  My daughter LOVED IT SO MUCH!  She was talking about it even this morning.  My son who is almost 9 loved it too- because there is action.  He told me while we were walking out- "Mom I really appreciate you doing this for us"  melted my heart for sure!  I give it a 2 thumbs up.

Review/Giveaway: Arctic Ease Cryotherapy Wraps

As mom who doesn't run (exercise- what is that?) I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do a review for this product but guess what I did use it and love it!

I work as a waitress and the other day it was very busy so I was carrying a lot of plates all day- well when I got home my right shoulder was killing me so I thought I would try a cooling pad.  Awwww it felt so good and my shoulder was in heaven!  I had it on there for couple hours- no mess, no changing, no odor- nothing it just felt soothing.

Yesterday, my daughter came home and she got hit with a hockey stick and her knee was bruised and swelling so Arctic Ease to the rescue.  She loved and said "Oh mom this is so much better than the ice that melts!"  there you have it out of the babes mouth...better than ice!  She even had me wrap her up today and she wore it to school.  It was a bit odd at first, she thought it would be slimy but it wasn't.  She loved the soothing feeling.  She kept saying "awwwww this feels so good".

So I guess a MOM who doesn't run can do a review for Arctic Ease because there are many ways you can use this product...we use the Mommy way!

How can you get yours:
The wraps and pads are sold at popular pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS, as well as grocery store chains like Jewel-Osco and Cub Foods. http://arcticease.com/where.php The wraps retail for $11.99 and the pads are $8.99.

The Allen's Thanksgiving Weekend

Wow what a holiday weekend.  My cousin from Arizona drove 12 hours to come to our house for Thanksgiving dinner...wow brave woman there.  They stayed a couple nights and took that long trek home on Saturday.  It was nice having someone else to cook for besides my family.  The kids had their cousin to play with and they even had some squabbles (Lil Mama)!  We ate good.  My hubby even fell asleep "Al Bundy Style" right after dinner so I'll take that has a big thumbs up!

I know I'm getting old because each night my cousin was here I was in bed by 10pm- I was wiped out.  She must think we are soooooo boring!  I like boring though.

It rained a lot during the kids vacation but they did wonderful.  I'm very blessed to have such great kids.  Next month we have 2 weeks off so hopefully it won't be raining.

I was sick all weekend- in bed.  I did go to work yesterday but came right back home.  I watched a lot of TV between sleeping.  Since I was sick all weekend and made no money I can't even do any Cyber Monday shopping.  I did do a little shopping on Friday at OldNavy.com and it was quite funny, things kept disappearing out of my cart while I was shopping.  Oh well I guess they werte trying to save me some money..LOL!

Oh wait....before I get ready for Xmas I have 3 birthday to deal with.  Hubby's on Dec 6th, mine on Dec 13th, and my son's on Dec 15th.  Gear up mama pam- you are going to be BUSY!  My son wants to have a Lego Party- his bff just had one and I know I can't top that mom's cake so I will have to buy it somewhere I guess.

Time to get my booty off the computer and CLEAN the house.  Hope everyone had a blessed holiday!

Thanksgiving Stress-Just NOT Having It!

Well it hasn't hit me yet....wondering why not.  Usually I'm all panicked that my house isn't clean enough or I'm not that good of a cook so what is people going to think of my food!  That's a lot of pressure to put on someone and I guess at 41 (yes almost 42) I'm getting to the point of I know I can't stress or I get sick!  Wow I'm so happy I'm finally beginning to see the light.

My house will look lived in- not messy nor extra extra clean.  Really with a 8 & 6 yr old kids what good is it to spic and span the house when in an hour something is going to get messed up anyways.  Lived in is just fine for me.  Now when my mom comes in Dec maybe I'll do a lil extra scrub here and there but I'm not busting my butt.  My hubby will be happy that's for sure.  I usually have a list of 10 things for him to do and maybe he gets 2 done- so that eases that stress of getting upset with him too.

As for cooking...hell after all these years I think I got the basics down!  Simple menu and all the usual thanksgiving suspects (turkey, mashed potatoes, mac/cheese, greens beans, rolls.....).  I'm no Martha Stewart so why try to be!  Part of me wishes I was more into decorating but hey I keep that for Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.

Simple this year people SIMPLE!  That means lil stress on me than I'm all for it!

So THANKFUL!

The Fresh Air Fund~ Kids needing our help!

I received an email yesterday asking me if I would share this info on my website~ Heck YA!  Anything for the kids is always my motto!

Summer may seem far away, but NYC children are currently participating in Fresh Air programs, from weekly tutoring sessions to job shadowings to weekend retreats at Fund camps in upstate New York! Our Career Awareness Program serves more than 300 youngsters in middle and high school. We also have new leadership programs for young women to develop their “can-do” attitudes!

Every year, The Fresh Air Fund gives thousands of inner-city children the priceless gift of fun – and opens the door to a lifetime of opportunities.

•Just $10 will send one child on a bus ride to his or her Friendly Town host family.

•$24 provides a child with a week of swimming lessons.

•$42 provides a day of Career Awareness classes.

•A gift of $50 can fund a camp counselor for a day.

Don't need a school to have a COMMUNITY!

I met up with a bunch of moms yesterday that "used to" go to the school I go to now and it was so nice watching our kids play and us sitting around "talking".  It felt good just being there.  I miss these ladies a lot but they left the school for many different reasons and I support them all for their decision, as they do mine:)

Our kids love playing with each other and we enjoy each others company.  We are all so different in many ways but the one thing that brought us together is the "school" but we have taken it to another level and we don't need the school to have our COMMUNITY that we all love and miss because not everyone goes to the same school.

We are now going to meet every other Wednesday and I look forward to that!!!

Just had to share my great day yesterday.

Xigo- Product Review

I was sent this product last month to try but haven't felt like I needed to UNTIL TODAY!  My throat is scratchy/little headache forming- you know that feeling so I'm going to take this now and let you know later how it worked!

Love Safeway.com!

I know I have a busy day today so I got online to safeway.com and did my shopping.  Had my list and it was smooth.  I go thru all the sales first then hit my list and BAM...I'm done shopping.  My groceries will be here between 4-6 today!  I don't have to bag a thing, deal with snotty cashier, or my kids saying I want this and that plus I don't actually have to go to the store- LOVING THIS!!!!

Simple things make me happy!  Grocery shopping is right up there with washing dishes as my 2 least favorite household chores.

Netflix Rocks AT&T Sucks

Our cable box has been tripping for a couple weeks now and after the 4th time of being on the phone with AT&T my husband demanded them to replace the box or he was changing carrier.  Two nights in a row we were watching TV around 9pm and poof the RED X appears on the screen.  At that time of night we are NOT going to call so we switched over to Netflix and watched that!  No sweat off my back until I figured out the cable didn't come back on in the morning or afternoon.  Now your messing with my soap operas- yes I watch soap operas.  I switch between Y&R/All My Kids/Days- never watch all 3 just the one that is exciting- which right now is YR.  Watching my DVR TV shows at night time while everyone slept was my "thing to do".  We will be getting our new box on Thursday.

Netflix has some awesome documentaries/movies so no worries we will have plenty to watch but I really enjoyed the quiet last night- so maybe having no TV isn't all the bad.

Pam Allen Online

I've been learning social media for a couple months now and I'm moving towards becoming a Social Media Manager.

I have my own website: http://pamallenonline.com/  Facebook: PamAllenOnline  Twitter: pamallenonline

The site is going to be my journey into Social Media Marketing.  I want my niche to be MOM BLOGS but for now I'm working on my husband's airbrushing site http://mrairbrushhands.com/ and I've been bringing him business every week by posting his info on Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist- just getting his info out there.  He is so proud of me.  I'm proud of myself too!

Other Projects:
  • Admin on Facebook for my kids school.
  • This week will start a Facebook page for the cafe I work for- hoping to bring in more customers during the week.

I'm excited to share what I've been learning and even more excited to implement what I've learned!

We don't have a choice on whether we do social media but the question is how well we DO IT!  Quote by Erik Qualman

Rearranging Rooms

I'm one of those people that LOVE to rearrange rooms like every couple months. However, last time I did that I threw my back out and I was in pain for several days so guess what....haven't moved furniture in awhile and its KILLIN ME, lol! I know crazy huh!

We are getting are carpets cleaned tomorrow and so in my head I need to rearrange some things before this happens. I tell my husband last night that I want to move the desk out of the bedroom then into the living room and take the couches/chair out of the living room. He looks at me and says "My head just started hurting"....so do I take that as a NO???

Well guess I need to find a virtual house to move around.

MEAN MOM ON MONDAY MORNING!

Monday morning from 7-8am is so funny!  My lil girl she gets up with a smile, wanting to go to school, takes bath, gets dressed - no problems!  Than there is my son....OMG does he do this on purpose every Monday!  He won't get up and it takes him at least 15 minutes to get out of bed.  To get him into the shower is like watching a big slug move across the room.  He doesn't walk he slithers but it takes him at 10 minutes to go 10 steps.  This morning he put is leg into the shower and called it GOOD...really dude.  I know he didn't take a shower Sat or Sun because I work and I'm not here to say do it! Whats up with boys and water.  After I stand outside the bathroom door (like I don't have other stuff to do) and not let him out until he actually get his whole body under the water then of course I'm the MEAN MOM! He sings a Mean Mom song too....I need to record that.

When I wave to them goodbye a smile forms and I know I have a couple hours to quiet and coffee so its all good :)  This MEAN MOM will now enjoy the rest of her Monday!

Are you ready for THANKSGIVING?

Biggest question is AM I?  Heck no but next week I'm all about it.  The carpets are getting cleaned on Wednesday.  My house is in good condition so I don't have to do much in house cleaning but I do want to go through and declutter.  I've been doing lil baby steps with fly lady so I guess that's where my decluttering is coming from LOL!

I am going to do my menu and shopping list next week too!  I have to stay I HATE GROCERY SHOPPING!  We moved last year and the neighborhood grocery store is horrible.  I get all stressed out when I have to go shopping there so guess what I did the other day...I shopped ONLINE!  I made my list and ordered from Safeway.com ( free delivery and $15 off- for 1st time) and let me tell you it was AWESOME!  I got to pick what day/time they would deliver and it was very smooth.  I was a little worried about produce/meat so I didn't get too much but what I did was perfect.  The only complaint I can say was my milk jug was dented...oh my :)  I'll be doing this again and again.

My cousin is coming from Arizona with her son and we are so excited!  Hubby is thinking about doing a "smoked" turkey and I say go for it, more room in the oven for me.  Now lets hope and pray I don't burn anything!

What are your favorite Thanksgiving Tips/Tricks???

Why did the Migraine take 2 days of my life?

Just NOT FAIR, I say!  I probably get a dozy every year but I can usually take some Tylenol and everything will be fine.  Ummmm NOT this time!  The only thing that helped was resting all day yesterday in a dark room.  OMG the light hurt SO bad!

Besides the pain it was an eye opener that I need to go to the Dr's!  I hate Dr's (not them personally) but I need to swallow my fears (or whatever it is) and just go!  The only time I go to the doctors is when I'm pregnant well that's not going to happen ever again and its been 6 yrs.  Ok fine!

I don't want to go thru that again.  I couldn't even see out of my right eye and felt like my face was swollen.  It wasn't but it felt like it!.  I'm a big baby when it comes pain so maybe a normal person (LOL) could have handled that pressure but nope not me- crawl into bed and stay there until I feel better is what I do!

Today I'm paying for my day in bed though- double housework double computer work!  Geez when does the cycle stop....hehehe!

Halloween Over....WOOHOO!

Don't get me wrong Halloween is fun but a lot of work!  This weekend I was non-stop to create a wonderful weekend for the kids.  Halloween arts n crafts, parties, sleep-overs, trick/treating....we were busy ALL weekend.  Then on top of it I had to work too.  I'm exhausted!

We have the excited princess and the cool SWAT officer!

I was so busy I didn't take that many pictures....bad mom!  Today I am dragging and just want to crawl back into bed!  Not going to happen but hey its all good, my family had a awesome time.

This morning though Lil Man was very difficult to get out of the house to school.  He didn't want to go to school because "he didn't get to relax all weekend".....translation " I didn't get to play video games"  Oh cry me a river dude, like I'm going to let you stay home so you can play video games- NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!  He didn't want to walk with me and told me not to talk to him.  He is sooooo lucky I didn't have all my coffee in my system because it might have gone bad!  LOL...big bad momma that I am :)

Decorations coming down tonight.  Lil Mama wants to help.

Wimpy Kid T-shirt my Hubby made for our son

My son designed it though.  He told dad what to put on there.  At school today they had to dress up as their favorite book character and of course WIMPY KID is big in our house.  Lil Mama went as Pinkalicious but the pic wasn't too hot so I hope I can get one when she gets out of school.

Sometimes don't you just want to say F*CK IT!

Last night was one of those times but I held it in and just accepted that this is the way it is!  I'm talking about my kids school.  We had a parent meeting last night and let me see there were 8 parents (3 of us are speakers) the rest was teachers, admin, and other speakers.  We have about 170 families in the school.  We sent out emails, posted on facebook, our yahoo group, told parents face to face, and flyers.  I know (I've heard it many times) it happens at every school, I get that people are busy but I feel like damn do these parents care what is happening at the school and don't they want to know how they can make it better.  They sure do bitch enough to me that's for sure but are they there when we can actually get something accomplished.

I spend several hours a week on school/parent stuff that I feel its like a freakin full-time job.  I'm trying to reach out, give information, and do what other parents except for the parent leaders but damn this is too stressful!

I was very discouraged and almost started to cry when I had to talk last night because I felt I was wasting my family time being there last night.  I have better things to do with my time too PEOPLE!  But I'm committed to our school and want it to be a school where our kids can be proud to go.  I feel this past year I've been hit with wall after wall and geez Pam how many bumps in the head do I need to take before I say F**K IT!

Sorry to be Debbie Downer today but I'm frustrated.  The good thing about this is the ladies that are on the board with me don't take it as personal as I do and they keep me going.  I'm an emotional person and take things way too serious and personal.  So I will sulk today and be right back on track.

Baby Mama Drama

Talked to my son yesterday and so wish I lived closer to him because he needs me!  Before I start I want to make sure everyone knows I don't have anything against my sons ex-girlfriend/baby mama but......damn girl CHILL OUT!

I know my son is not not perfect and she has had to deal with a lot of crap from him but he wants to be a DAD...let him.

She is telling him that he needs to tell her everything...who, what and when.  He hasn't put my grand baby in danger, the ex doesn't want the baby around new girlfriend.  I told him he doesn't have to tell her all that stuff unless it is a bad situation and it better not be!  She doesn't tell him everything plus she has a boyfriend too so why should he have to.  They are young and will learn that all this silliness is so unnecessary.  Grand baby is the most important and if he loves his daddy and wants to be there than let it happen.

My son wants to take her back to court but she told him if he does than she will tell the court he raped her.  That's when my jaw dropped and I said HELL NO, WTF!  He started crying.  If I could just reach through that phone and give him a big hug and her a big slap upside the head I would.  I told him he has enough people who will testify that they were in a relationship and was having sex way before the baby was conceived.  Plus this is 2 years later...why has it not been brought up before but now in a threat.  Oh yeah because she is young and scared.
Let the Baby Mama Drama alone!

Happiness is....

This is my Happiness!
Part 1!

I almost forgot I had to do this but it popped in my head while I was taking a shower this morning.  When I saw what day I had to this Blog Hop I went OH NO I work on the weekends and barley get on the computer .  So in my head and the perfect world I thought I would do this post ahead of time and be already...haha as usual that didn't happen.

I grew up with a lot of turmoil so I never really was happy until about 7 years ago when I FORGAVE people who hurt me through out my life.  My shoulders were a lot lighter and I actually can sleep at night.  My life changed when I forgave.

I was able to LOVE and that is where my full complete happiness came until my life!

Today, I'm participating in Jennifer from Oh So Very Me's Blog Hop on Happiness. Yesterday's post came from http://yellowrosegiftscompanyblog.blogspot.com/ check out her post about happiness.  Tomorrow please check out http://geeky-mama.com/ for her happiness post.

I plan to do a Happiness Part 2!

My Relationship to my Blackberry

I don't know about others but mine is attached to my hip these day.  Can I leave the house without my phone?  Heck NO!  I will turn around and go get it even if I'm late-which is just about all the time.  Do I use it to make phone calls....no HATE talking on the phone.  Texting and emailing is what I use my BB for!

My birthday is coming up and I've already hinted enough to hubby what phone I want.  I would love a Blackberry Torch.  My BB now has a crack down the middle thanks to lil man!  But it still works so I'm good until my hubby buys me a new phone (like how I threw that in).

My hubby said the other night if he ever catches me emailing/texting at 1am in the morning he will throw my phone away!  WTH....do I say anything about the endless hours of Xbox playing he does and I'm going to throw his xbox away.  No, but I've thought about it MANY times!

I got to thinking WOW I would be totally lost w/o my Blackberry and that's scary to think like that but hey I'm honest.  On my phone I go to facebook, twitter, google, take/send pics, games for the kids when we are stuck somewhere, and of course music!  I'm sure I'm missing out on other cool things but for now this is all I can handle.

Should I be this attached to a phone...probably not but it has saved me many times over and I'm standing by my Blackberry!  If anyone tries to take (hear this hubby) my BB then we will have issues.

FlyLady~ Who Does This?

Well I'm going to give it shot!  I remember a couple years ago I tried Flylady and I was bombed with email after email and so I stopped.

Holidays are around the corner and I'm grown enough that I should be throwing a FABLOUS holiday party...LOL!  It's all about the kids so if I'm prepared and not stressed on what my house looks like. I might actually have a FUN holiday not a stressful one.

So I know I'm late but Fly Lady says's its OK!

Here is the home page for FLYLADY- a lot of info http://www.flylady.net/index.asp

I Love My Hair Video

A friend sent this to me and I fell in love with it! My daughter who is 6 (going on 16) has very beautiful curly hair and we go around and around almost every day on how we are going to do her hair.

I love her hair down and free.  Some days she does too but other days I know she hates it when I have to comb thru it.  My hubby's side of the family loves braiding it and that works too.  No matter how she wears her hair- she is too cute!

She got her hair braided (sat for 5 hrs) into tiny braids because she going up to grandma's for a couple weeks and I didn't want my mom to have to do her hair everyday so this helped out so much.
This is how I LOVE her hair!  This was her 1st Day of Kindergarten

When we don't do anything to her hair she looks like this:

I'm Old

My family went out of town to visit family and I stayed behind to work.  Yesterday was a rough one at work-very busy but we got thru it!  When I I got home my body hurt so I crawled on to the bed and watched DVR shows and worked on my laptop for the rest of the night.  Very lazy and fell asleep at 10pm.  I'm old!  Back in the day I would have been at the club with my cutest outfit on with my girlfriends right there with me.  But nowadays sweats and my flip flops are my choice.  Oh what a mom!

Woke up at 5am ready for the world.  I'm able to enjoy 2 of my fav's this morning Coffee and Quiet!  Tonight they come back home and I can't wait.  One day is long enough to be away from my buggers.

Time to finish getting ready and off to work I go.

School Crap- Calgon take me away

I'm Vice Chair of our school PTA...we call ours PTC though.  Anyways, some days its just hard to hear all the negativity that is a black cloud hovering over our school.  Yes, our school has some issues but they are getting worked on and who goes to a PERFECT school anyways!!  People come up to me and want my help or just want to gripe about the school,  I want to listen because I'm genuinely concerned and my heart goes out to all the parents but I just want to shake them and tell them its not about you its about your kids!Drop all this bitching and if your not happy than GET INVOLVED or there is the door.  Somethings of course we can't fix and some issues they have I'm like REALLY your hating on the school for this- that's when I have to take deep breaths and bite my tongue.  This morning my tongue hurt!

I just had to vent that out!

Words of Me Project: 31 Days Creativity Challenge

Came across this very inspiring blog http://wordsofmeproject.blogspot.com/ that I keep going back to and so I'm going to take this challenge- even though its completed on the website I still want to do it!  I love when someone inspires me to do something outside my comfort zone so here it goes.

Day 1: Create an Art Journal for all your thoughts, ideas, inspirational quotes, etc

http://wordsofmeproject.blogspot.com/2010/07/turn-your-light-on-day-1.html

I'm down to do this!  Stay tuned for a picture of my journal...ummm I'm not a very good artist so don't laugh when I post the pic :)

Monday Mornings- Vent Again

I know your probably tired of my venting about Monday Mornings but its rough!  I work as you know as a waitress and at 41 my body hurts so do you think I want to clean up when I get off work.  Yesterday, 30 minutes after I got home from work I took the kids to the park for 3 hrs!  I was there with some friends so had a blast but that gave my hubby 3 hrs all by himself.  He cooked a fabulous dinner and did a little shopping so of course last night I wasn't too upset about the condition of the house.  But I do have to say I wasn't very happy that my son was still in the same clothes as Saturday....um you took your PJ's off and put the same clothes on and DAD you let it happen.  Ugh-I told my son to change his clothes before we go to the park and he went right in to to do that- so why couldn't hubby say that to him.  Roll eyes!

Now lets get back to Monday mornings....I asked my hubby if he good do a load (1 load) of clothes that had the kids uniforms in so that we would have something to wear- that didn't happen but I did notice that all my hubby's clothes were washed.  So had to pull out some old clothes and work with what we had- lil mama was not happy with her uniform clothing today.  Love to start Monday morning with a lot of crying and yelling.  I put clothes out the night before for the kids except for Sunday's- guess I'll need to walk my tired ass body down to laundry room do my babies laundry when I get home on Sunday's. This morning was hard on everyone.

As for the house OMG....breath in breath out Pam.  It's not like its totally filthy but at least pick up after yourselves- that's all I ask and ask and ask and ask but no one seems to get it!  My hubby took the kids to Gamestop- the one place they all love going and got games for everyone (not me) so they all vegged out on video games and you can tell because of the wrappers, receipts, bags, snacks wrappers are everywhere- PICK UP PEOPLE!

When I'm at the computer I can't see the mess so maybe I'll just sit here all day :)  Let them come home and see I didn't do anything and they need to help- wishful thinking but I know I'll be cleaning up soon.  Guess thats my que to go clean....wait I'm going to make lunch and sit down to watch YR and when hubby gets home thats when I'll clean.

Okay done w/my bitching.....I'll post a better post later- just needed to get this out before hubby gets home and he gets yelled out- feel a bit better now.  :)  Blogging does help WOOHOO!

Working Saturday's AGAIN

I have very mixed feelings about working on Saturdays these days but hey got to do what you got to do!

I'm waitress at a very busy breakfast cafe and I've been working there for 10 years.  I love my job but it takes a lot out of me these days.  Not sure if its because I'm 41 or is I'm not the fittest- probably both huh!

I stopped working on Saturdays several months ago for many reasons but the main reason was so I can be with my family.  The kids were invited to a birthday party or play date every weekend.  Love my hubby but he isn't into all those kid events so my kids were missing a lot of fun. Now that school is in and the weather is getting cooler the events aren't happening as much so why not go make money.  Money is always nice right!  I told a couple customers who live by me that I'll be back on Saturdays and they are thrilled.  They said the cafe is so different w/o me and they really enjoy it when I'm there so they will be in today.

Here I am enjoying waking up with the kids, drinking good coffee, and writing a blog post- love life!  Then I'm off to make some money and mess with my co-workers :)

Trader Joes Ice Cream Sandwiches

Can I just say YUMMY YUMMY!  What a divine treat I had last night.  I didn't look at the calories (I'm sure its high) because I wanted to enjoy it.  Plus in my world if it came from Trader Joe's than it's all good, right?  Love my thinking but hey it gets me through the day.

I highly recommend this for a special treat.  My husband had 2 of them...crazy but I totally understand.

Monday Morning and Coffee

I know I've talked about Monday Morning and Coffee in separate posts but today they go together.  I need a lot of coffee to deal with Monday mornings, LOL!

Saturday was filled with running around with kids to do this and do that.  My son played in a soccer tournament and wow my inner soccer mom came out!  I was on the sidelines screaming and clapping.  My son looked proud but he did ask me not to be so loud.  Okay I'll tone it down.

Sunday I work at a cafe as a manager and its stressful some days.  Yesterday was one of them!  I come home and went right to my room.  That's where everyone hangs out anyways so I'm not closing myself off.  My husband evens brings me my dinner in there- I know a bit spoiled.  I have a hard time walking after being on my feet for 10 hrs.  I'm getting too old and also not in the best health but still get the job done- its the aftermath that kills me.

Monday mornings I would LOVE to just relax after the kids go to school but that's a big fat NO!  Every room is a mess.  Love my kids and husband but they are DIRTY.  This day is far more cleaning than I want to do but I guess that's my life for now.  I try to let them know in a very nice mom/wife voice that I don't want to be cleaning a big mess but they just don't get it.  Their "clean" is a lot different than my "clean".

Anyways, now that I bitched about the Monday Mess again- its time to get off the computer (lip out) and clean my house.  Rolling eyes too BTW!

Going to be a Social Media Manager

Yes Mom I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up!  A Social Media Manager~this entails managing online social media profiles like facebook & twitter for businesses.  I've been training here and there for the last year but just recently took courses on How To Become a SM Manager. I love it and it fits in right now with what I am doing for others.

One of my projects this week is to work on my husbands website- get it all cleaned up, install new plug-ins, get that social media up and running for him, and get more traffic coming to his site.

Other project is my new website- pamallenonline.com.  I have it up and running now I just need to add content- start writing posts!

This is wonderful because I have one site I need to do maintenance on and the other site I'm setting up so I'm working on 2 different kind of sites and that's what the course taught me how to do!  I'll keep you updated on the progress of both pages.

Sometimes don't you feel like......

SCREAMING NOOOOO!

Don't get me wrong I will help out just about anyone but sometimes I need to say NO.  I'm not sure why it is but I can only say NO to my hubby and kids.  Just a darn shame, tell ya~!

Tonight on top of trying to get ready for Back to School Night, figure out what I'm going to say when I have to get up in front of the school (not nervous about that at all-lol), and dealing with my 2 bored kids who want to be at home riding their new bikes instead of being at the school past 6pm- I was approached to help a single mom out in need.  I was told it was a very rare occasion that this parent would need me but just in case...OMG don't believe the hype!  After talking to the parent in need- she needs a whole heck of a lot then the occasional pick up from school.  This mom needs to drop off child at 6:30am 2-3 a week, days that school is closed she needs a sitter, also every other weekend.  Really.... then after requesting what she needs then she let me know she can't pay me anything.  First of all- money was never mentioned but for all that she needs to offer something.  Weekends- that's a big no no and I did say I can't do that because I work-which I do on Sunday.  I possibly can handle the drop off but damn that's early for a kid that's not yours.  Mine don't even get up until 7am.  I will help this parent out because my heart says its the right thing to do but a part of me wants to slap myself upside my head!

I'm not sure why I decided to this but I went to my new favorite blog One Brownie At A Time and she was doing this Post It Note Tuesday so for the FUN of it I did it too!

Monday's are ROUGH!

I enjoyed my cup of coffee and now its time to get moving and get things DONE.  Personally I would love to sit at the computer all day (not very healthy I know) but yes I have CLEANING to do- geez sometimes the life of mom sucks!  Only the cleaning part.

Weekends are busy at the Allen's.  Usually on Saturday we have a b'day party or playdate to go to for each kid.  We try to clean house, and when I say "we" I do ask everyone but I usually get "Oh Mom its Saturday" attitude so I tend to do it myself.  Sunday's I go to an actually J.O.B.- I'm a waitress/manager at a cafe that I've been with for 11 yrs.  Sunday's are CHAOS and I'm the one in charge- pressure and more pressure.  I have a great crew so that helps but some days I just want to give it the big middle finger.  I come home to a messy house- love my hubby but cleaning is not his forte.  I should have caught that clue when I started dating him and he had old beer bottles under his bed.  But hey love is blind, right!  I do get dinner cooked for me though- so big woohoo for hubby on that.  However, when I get up on Monday I see Hurricane Allen has hit my house yet again.

I guess I need to move my big booty off this comfy chair, blast some smooth RB, put on my gloves and conquer this MESS!

Do you like Coffee?

I LOVE me some coffee.  Tell you the truth I can drink this stuff all day!  Yep all day and still fall asleep at 10pm.  It tastes so good.  Thank goodness my husband works at Peets Coffee as a machine operator and brings home coffee all the time!  Do you know how much money he saves me!!!

My hubby didn't drink coffee until he started at his job 5 yrs ago and now he needs it EVERYDAY!

I guess I needed to share this because I'm sitting her at the computer drinking the BEST cup of coffee.  I'm also in my PJ's, house is quiet-kids at school, and its Monday!  What a beautiful start.  It's going to be a blessed one for sure.

Back to Blogging Day 5: What Blogging Means to You

What blogging means to me~ going blank of course but it will come to me.  I just recently started being active on this blog because I do want to incorporate blogging into my life.  I feel its going to be an awesome way to express my feelings- good or bad.  My family is a trip sometimes so I love too write about all the goofy fun stuff my kids do.  I'm having a hard time posting some stuff but guess what I write it but it stays as a draft.  I had a diary in my teens and this is so much more fun.

I have a journey that I'm traveling and this blog is helping me in so many ways.  I'm a pretty shy person but if I can write down my feelings than people will understand me more.  I have trouble talking in front of people because I'm always wondering what they are thinking- working on that!  If I can write down my feelings and people can relate or understand than its all good.  I love email- I'm a hate the phone kind of girl.  Phones-ugh!  I know a bit odd but its how I am!

I'm going to be venturing on a new path soon and this blog is where I'm going document it.  My journey to becoming a Social Media Manager.  Looking forward to this and I'm real excited about future opportunities.

Blogging is a lot work though.  It's not just writing it- well maybe for some but for others this is a way to communicate with others and that requires work.  I LOVE visiting other blogs and learning about them and their journeys.  I have became web friends with other bloggers and I hope to gain more relationships with my own journey.  Blogging is a creative expression outlet and I'm excited to be in the blogging world.

1st PTC (PTA) meeting TONIGHT

I'm nervous!  Why am I nervous well its been a rough road lately at the school and I'm just hoping that our work we have been doing is making a difference.  We are newly formed PTC (Parent Teacher Corp)group and some days I feel we are just winging it.  A lot of parents look at me for answers and I got to say that's scary because what if I'm not telling them correct information or directing them in the wrong direction or better yet looking totally LOST!

We have a new principal this year and so far I haven't heard too many good things but its still early right!  She sure did clean up the school A LOT!  However, she isn't as open as the other principals (yes plural) but she is efficient and right now that is what our school needs.  We are a Charter School and we are up for our review this year so certain things need to happen in order for us to get renewed.

Tonight we have agenda and I hope we STAY on track and move forward.  Moving forward is a phrase I have heard a lot this past couple months.

I want to reach out to parents and get them involved because it so worth it for themselves and for the kids.  My kids are so proud of their mom and guess what I'm proud of myself too.  I feel what I'm doing is worth something and if I look at that BIG picture I know this will help.  My confidence has gone way up and yes I do feel good talking too other parents.  Now do I like getting up in front of a whole classroom full of parents- OH HECK NO but I still do it!  Why- for my kids!!!

So wish me luck and that we have a good turn out for our very 1st meeting of the school year!

Who INSPIRES me- Day 4 Assignment Back2Blogging

Wow a deep question! Of course I'm going to say my mom.

My Mom~

What can I say but wow this woman has been thru some shit in her life.  I'm not going to go in detail but my mom is the STRONG woman she is because of what she has had to endure her 60 years.  Sorry mom- told your age but I think your pretty proud of it so no worries.

My mom has been thru A LOT in her life and I applaud her for fighting the odds the best she could.  My mom is a fighter that is for sure, she doesn't back down.  So unlike myself- who runs for cover whenever issues arise.  My mom has had to deal with her identity- who she really is.  She wasn't told until her teens that her dad wasn't really her dad.   What a blow.  My mom has been abused by pretty much every man in her life- no matter what kind of abuse it was still ABUSE.  She has had to deal with 3 kids who all have gone through abuse in their lives.  She was not aware of some of the abuse until we were older.  She has had to overcome addictions in her life that almost ruined her but she is fighter and she never let it get to a point of destruction.  She is in constant pain every day and that dictates how her day will go-some days she is as young as her grandchildren and some days she can't function.  She has fought this too- by turning to aromatherapy and starting her own business making aromas.

I could go on and on about my mom and what a special woman she is but that would be such a long post!  I do want to say THANKS MOM because I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for her.  She has inspired me to let go of a lot of anger and pain I've held on to for many years.  She is the one I call when I need advice, comfort or I just need to bitch. My mom ROCKS and its been a rough bumpy road but we made MOM-thanks!!!!

Day 3- My Favorite Post Title

Wednesday, September 15: Re-upload a post with a title that you are particularly proud of and explain why.

This assignment was fun and very interesting.  Looking through some of my titles I giggled but then i also thought WTF was I "on" that day LOL!

I think my my favorite post title is: I'm a Trapped Fashion Diva

I was having a "Back In The Day" moment for real!  Yes, I used to get my nails done every week and hair styled every 2 weeks.  Buying clothes every week, shoes oh my, purses for every outfit- yes I lived the life for a bit.  But guess what, I would rather have all the hugs and kisses from my two lil ones than a new pair of nice shiny $100 shoes any day!  I even told someone today how I used to be very girly girl who wore high heels, makeup, nails airbrushed, and all the cool clothes a girl would love and you should have seen her face.  It took me back for a second, like do I really look that bad now.  I joked with her and she said "no you look like a mom should be" I of course laughed out loud and said thank you!  But in my head I was WTF does a mom look like then I came home and looked in the mirror and I had to agree.  I had a school sweatshirt on, jean capris, cute flip flops,  hair in a pony tail, and no make up.  However I know some really HOT moms and I so wish I dressed like that but I feel comfortable and feel good so that is all that counts right!!!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane SITS B2Blogging event!
