Client Organization- Starting Up My VA Business

I've been working pretty hard getting a routine down and getting my Virtual Assistant Business up and running.  So I thought I would share some tips/tricks with my readers.

But to be honest getting started is hard and I feel like I'm going in a 100 Different Directions.
When this happens I get frustrated then the stress kicks in and BAM I'm frazzled.  I need to MASTER the stress and not let it rule my life.  Easier said than done but it needs to happen.  I need to find a BALANCE not a BALANCING ACT.

First thing first~ ORGANIZATION!

Right!  I'm not the kind of person who can ride on the seat of her pants and just do it.  I need a plan and purpose.  Now my mom is PLANNER- I look at her and all her to do lists but she gets sh*t done so it must work.
  • Write that To Do List every morning or at night.  Either way works.  I have a list for each client and myself.  I Prioritize my lists,  I put numbers (1-3) by each task example~ 1- Very Important 2- Soon 3- Coming Up.
  • Notebook for each client (including myself)- I write down all info I need for the client here (passwords, logins, and other account info) then I write down a schedule- my day to day tasks.  If I have meeting with them I write down the notes in notebook.  I make sure I go through this notebook every week to make sure I'm on task and don't forgetting anything.  Everything is one place.
  • My Inbox-  I read my emails every morning and organize it.  I found this was a big problem for me so I deleted about 5000 emails a couple months so I can move forward because having that many emails were stressing me out big time.  I STAR certain emails I want to go back to during the day.  I also set up TASKS I need to do for some emails that require action.  For my clients I have a FOLDER that every correspondence goes in there so it's all in one place (like the notebook)  You don't want to be looking for an email a client sent you 2 months ago- it is in the client folder.  I don't like it going directly to folder (you can do that) but in my inbox so I can put down in my notebook plus take action- don't leave in INBOX.  At the end of the day your inbox should be clean and ready to start back up in the morning.
  • Calendar- A MUST!!!  I use Google Gmail so this is very easy for me!  I color coordinate every client and other tasks. But I also use a paper calendar for my blog posts/scheduling.
Okay so that's enough for now.  If you have great ideas/tips to keep your clients organized please leave a comment- I'm always wanting new ways that might make this process easier : )

I Love Getting My Sverve On: For Bloggers

What is SVERVE- it's where Bloggers and Brands Connect. Unleashes your Social Verve!

At first I was a bit confused but the more I looked at it and got involved I'm loving Sverve.  This platform reminds me of Pinterest but for Bloggers.  You can add blog posts and then others can SHARE and LIKE your tip.

Also this is wonderful place that bloggers and brands can connect with each other.  Brands add CAMPAIGNS and Bloggers apply for the campaigns.  I have done some awesome campaigns that have paid $25-50, received a Workshop Conference for free plus been able to sign up for Affiliate opportunities that have been paying well.

What I like is the NETWORKING with other bloggers.  You can endorse others and vise versa- I love to see when someone endorses me.  Also helps you get more points and the more points you get the better chance the brands will connect with you.

What are you waiting for...Sign Up NOW!

Overcoming My Blogging Comfort Zone

I've been stepping out of my comfort zone this past month by reaching out to other bloggers and networking.  My numbers have grown through out all my social media sites.  So it's true you still have to communicate even if its online.  NETWORKING works!

It's hard to be vulnerable and put yourself out there.  I've been applying for blog job offers.  I'm not thinking I don't have enough experience and then not apply.  I'm going for it!   At this point I'm not upset if I don't get any of the positions I'm just happy I put myself out there and applied.

Connecting with others is important to grow any business even a blog.  Reach out by commenting on other blogs, retweeting, liking posts on Facebook, sharing pins on Pinterest and overall just getting involved.  You can't expect your blog to grow if all you do is post.

I joined Facebook groups that are in my niches (moms, reviews, and giveaways) and it has been a blessing.  I've met some awesome bloggers that I'm learning from every day.

Watch out Blogging World~ here comes PinkMama!  2013 is going to be my year I come out of this Blogging shell!

My Son is a Lover NOT a Fighter

That is what he told me yesterday!  Ummm he is 11!  No loving going on dude!

He went to the middle school he will be attending next year to shadow a student there.  There was a incident in 1st period that he felt got way out of hand for no reason but his friend felt he needed to protect him.  I guess some girl flicked Ronnell's shirt because she thought he was talking about her but he wasn't- they were discussing their friend that has same name (sam).  His friend got so upset and starting arguing with other students and then the teacher.  My son appreciated what his friend did but also felt it wasn't necessary.  Created a big mess.

He came home and did tell me about the incident.  He wasn't too concern about it but told me he is a LOVER not a FIGHTER.  Of course I laughed but I knew he meant this was not going be something he gets involved with when he goes to school.  He feels when you give people who are picking on you attention then they win.  If you ignore then they leave you alone because it shows you don't care.  He wishes more kids would be more inclined to not let the the little things bother them and let go of their pride.  He is one smart kid!

I'm hoping we made the right decision but we live in a very urban city and the schools here are rough no matter where you go!  Oh Middle school here we come!

How can you not like this face?

Stress Levels Are HIGH In Our House

Oh My Gosh- can Friday please come like RIGHT NOW!  My hubby has been gone over 2 weeks but will be returning this Friday.  The kids are done- they are having meltdowns right and left.  I'm trying to keep it together for them but I notice that I'm turning to unhealthy foods and a lot of it!  Eating junk food is my stress reliever- not good Pam!!!

Yesterday, lil mama (9 yrs old) wouldn't even get out of bed to go to school.  She laid in my bed until noon- she cried on and off all morning.  She loves going to school so I knew she wasn't faking it to just stay at home- she was sad.  After she talked to her Grandparents and her Daddy she got in a better mood- thank goodness or else we all would have been in trouble.

Today, lil man (11 yrs old) picked fights with his sister and me- not cool dude! He was so disrespectful in his words and actions, I had to call his daddy to get him to calm down.  He felt so bad for his meltdown but we are all dealing with this last week so emotionally so we hugged it out but he also knows that this won't be tolerated.

We are all dealing with the stress of Dad being gone in our own ways but we all know we are also here for each other.

Our family unit is tight, we spend a lot of time together and we enjoy each other.  So having Dad gone for 3 weeks has put us in a whirlwind and we don't know quite how to handle these emotions.  However, we all need to look at the BIG PICTURE- Dad being gone is not to hurt us but to make our situation better. With this new position and raise we no longer will need to worry if our rent will be paid on time.  We are not going to be rich but we can breathe.

I'm also taking strides to make our family unit stronger and thriving by starting my own Virtual Assistant website.  I've been doing a lot of training and I know what direction I need to go to make this happen.  We are super excited about our future- let's just hope we can get through these next couple days, HEHEHE!

Bay Area Summer Camp for Pre-K to 5th Grade: Camp Galileo

I know a lot of my friends are already thinking about SUMMER CAMPS and what are they going to do with their kids this year.  I stay at home during the week so camp was my house but this year I want to do something different .  There are so many different camps out there but I'm really loving the Galileo Camps.  The offer a wide range of programs.

Camp Galileo (Pre-K To 5th) Overview:

ART, SCIENCE AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FOR BUDDING INNOVATORS
Kids are naturally curious and creative. They’re into everything. But with time, some of that natural spirit of exploration can get sucked out of them. Gradually, a fear of mistakes and their consequences can start to grow.

CAMP GALILEO IS A PLACE WHERE FEAR GOES ON HOLIDAY. In its place grows a spirit of exploration and innovation. Every year, we see the experience fire campers’ imaginations and literally change their way of relating to learning.
    Nebulas: pre-K to K
    Stars: 1st and 2nd graders
    Supernovas: 3rd to 5th graders

Every year, Galileo introduces rich, riveting new themes to inspire budding innovators. Each theme combines art, science and outdoor activities around a whimsical week-long narrative that’s crafted to keep kids giggling and engaged. This year features four fresh themes, each adapted for three different age groups. The themes are created together with Galileo’s fabulous curriculum partners at Klutz, The de Young Museum, The Tech Museum of Innovation and The Chabot Space & Science Center.

Medieval Adventure: Art and Innovations of Camelot
Hear ye, hear ye! Adventure awaits – in a land of castles, catapults and quests. Come unlock the secrets of medieval artisans and craftsmen. Create golden chalices, printed surcoats and a throne room fit for kings and queens. Engineer projectile-propelling inventions worthy of the noblest knights.

African Safari: Arts and Animals of the Serengeti
Embark on an epic safari adventure. Set off across the Savannah on the lookout for elusive animals. Investigate biomechanics and get under the skin of the continent’s wildest creatures. Find out how to move as quietly as a hippo, or how giraffes support their long necks. Create artwork inspired by Maasai beadwork, traditional batiks and your spectacular surroundings.

Galileo Amusement Park: Art and Science of Circuses, Rides and Carnivals
Step right up to the main event – a colorful carnival of your own design. Create spinning acrobats, circus wagons and arcade games. Attempt astonishing feats of engineering as you build a mini-speedway or your own roller coaster. Construct the most exhilarating expo the world has ever seen.

A break from school doesn't have to mean a break from learning. But it can be a challenge to fill those long summer weeks with camps and classes that are both educationally engaging for kids and convenient for parents. At Galileo, families can have it all. Galileo runs camps kids love from pre-K all the way through 8th grade—where they get engrossed in art projects, science challenges and outdoor activities that make them laugh, think and express themselves with complete freedom—all with the convenience of 38 Bay Area locations, optional extended care and healthy lunch.

There is also camp for 5th–8th graders-Galileo Summer Quest.  Hurry because the classes are filling up FAST!  Click HERE for more info on these camps.

Want Clean Energy? Indiegogo Campaign for the Seebeck Effect

I had to look up what Thermoelectric meant and was impressed Seebeck Effect has been around for several hundred years but disappointed that this is not being used.

    From PRWEB Release~
Almost a year ago, several scientists came together to develop ways that would stop the rampant waste of energy that Global industry experiences. They explored the Seebeck Effect, which has been around since 1821, yet was only able to convert waste heat into small amounts of energy. During their research, the Seebeck team had a breakthrough in scaling-up existing technology, and quickly realized its potential to dramatically reduce power consumption, and in the process, significantly reduce greenhouse gasses. Seebeck Research has completed its initial planning and bench development. Their proprietary technology can take large amounts of wasted heat and converts it directly to non-polluting electricity. For example, Industrial plants that produce glass, steel, food, and just about every manufactured item (including recycling plants themselves), waste massive amounts of heat every day. This heat is released into the environment with little, to none being captured and used. Now, with Seebeck’s new technology, this wasted heat can be converted directly into electricity, that can dramatically reduce power consumption the need for the generation of additional energy.

    From Wikipedia:
The Seebeck effect is the conversion of temperature differences directly into electricity and is named after the Baltic German physicist Thomas Johann Seebeck, who, in 1821 discovered that a compass needle would be deflected by a closed loop formed by two metals joined in two places, with a temperature difference between the junctions. This was because the metals responded differently to the temperature difference, creating a current loop and a magnetic field

Guess What? We can help with the clean energy movement by supporting the Seebeck Effect.  Please visit their campaign page at http://igg.me/at/seebeck . They need to build at least one full sized generator to measure the full effect. They have the team ready but just needs the funds. By contributing or sharing this information this is a way we can make a difference. Having pollution free electricity sounds real good to me and our future.
