Bah Humbug!

It's the holiday season and I just can't get into it.  This year I wish I didn't have to decorate or put on that  smile for the kids but I have too!  I think I put my family in jeopardy for having a horrible Christmas.  My health hasn't been very good this past year and final in October I went to the Dr and then it got worse so I had to have a hysterectomy in November.  I'm happy I did but wow the worse time of the year possible.

My husband took family medical leave to take care of me so we are both waiting for EDD to issue of our disability checks but they have told us they are back logged. WTF really we haven't had any money come in for almost a month so we have went through what we had in checking.  Within this month we had 3 birthdays.  The only one we spent money on was our son's though.

However, my situation is only TEMPORARY. I do know that. How can I feel like this when there is 20 families that won't have their kids with them on Christmas so whatever I'm going through and feeling I need to suck it up and know that next month we will be fine again.

Next week is Christmas and how do I get through this without breaking down crying.  I know it's not about the PRESENTS but the kids are looking forward to presents and as their mom I want to give that to them.  I did some shopping before I went into the hospital but only small items.  This hurts my heart knowing I can't give them more.  I told them today that some of their gifts are going to have to be IOU's- they asked what that was and I told them I was going to make coupons that they can cash in for in January.  I love my kids because they said that was okay and look forward to having a long Christmas.

I love my kids they are so compassionate and I really want to give them what they give to others.  Last week a friend posted she didn't have any gifts for her son and BOTH of them went through their toys and now we have a big box to give to my friend.  I wish I could do the same for them!

I'm trying to go back to work in next weekend so we can at least a Christmas dinner!  This week we will be eating everything in the pantry and I'm sure by next week we will have our checks and I can stop feeling like Scrooge.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Prayers to the Sandy Hook Victims

As a mom my heart is heavy today!  My prayers are going out to all the families of Newtown Connecticut.  I wanted to go grab my kids from school and just hug them but I didn't because I didn't want to freak them out.   I will be holding them pretty tight tonight and giving that extra loving they deserve.  Let the people you love know it please!

Let us all try to do something to make this a world something we can be proud of and not be scared of!

I will be burning a candle for the families tonight!

I really need to stop watching the news though- I keep crying!

Recovering from a Hysterectomy

Well of course it's not fun but it has too happen, right? I can say honestly it is painful and it makes you really appreciated what you can do on a normal day.

I'm on my 3rd week and doing better. The first week I was so drugged up from hospital meds and pain pills that it flew by and the pain wasn't too bad LOL! The 2nd week well that was painful- not on so many meds! Which of course was a good and bad but I got through it. I was very tired and the days I did do something outside of the house, wiped me out. I cut back on the pain pills and that helped me focus more but the pain was still there.

I had my Dr check-up and the only scare we had was my belly button is leaking but no infection. I just need to take it easy. My Dr wants me to take the whole 6 weeks off. That scares me BIG TIME because how are we going to have a Christmas and pay our rent!! This stress alone is getting too me but as my hubby says "We will get through this together" love him. It doesn't help we have 3 b'days this month too.

I've been doing more around the house this weekend because it's hard to not do anything. My family has been awesome but no one can clean like me and that alone also stresses me out too. But in my defense I've been good and only doing what I feel like I can. I set up chores for the kids to do daily and they do it but I still want to go behind them, lol!

My favorite part of this recovery is my appetite disappeared. I'm hungry but after 3-4 bites I feel full. I don't mind if I loose some weight so I'm rolling with this one.

I feel good overall and look forward to the future. I'm super excited I won't ever have a period again. I won't miss the pain and the depression I got every month.

A BIG THANK YOU to my family and friends, I couldn't get through this time without all your support.  I have a wonderful family and awesome friends!

REVIEW/GIVEAWAY- ReUsies-No More Baggies

A wonderful company ReUsies™ sent me 2 examples of their products.  I was super excited because I pack the kids lunch everyday and using baggies bothers me.  We have containers but do you know how many my kids have lost just this year.  When I say my kids I really mean my son, lol!   I need to stock up on reuse containers BTW!  I fell in love with the ReUsies™ for sandwiches and snacks.  So hopefully down the road we will be baggie free- when my son stops leaving his lunch everywhere!  For now Lil Mama is doing her part- I trust her to bring them back home!

We used the sandwich size for:
  • sandwiches
  • bagels/cream cheese
  • quesadillas
We used the snack size for:
  • crackers
  • grapes
  • chips
  • cereal
Of course there are many items you can put in these bags.  My daughter felt "awesome" (her words) that she was using ReUsies™ instead of baggies because she was helping the environment.  We reuse a lot of items in the house so this product fits in with our family ways.
Cleaning them was very easy.  I turn inside out if real dirty and rinse it out but usually I just have to wipe it down.  I let them air dry.

From Website~ ReUsies™ are a re-usable alternative to sandwich and snack bags.  Each one has the potential to eliminate hundreds of plastic bags. ReUsies™ are 100% cotton lined with leak-resistant nylon and are secured with hook and loop closures.  They are easy to clean either by hand, dishwasher, or washer and dryer.  Food safe and come in a variety of prints for any member of the household.

Pack It, Snack It, ReUse It... Thanks for doing your part! from ReUsies site!

Mean Girls Video- LOVE IT!

My little girl was born with extreme clubfeet (dr said she probably wouldn't walk) but she fought all odds and she is doing more than just walking- she is dancing.  She joined a dance class this year at Destiny Arts in Oakland and LOVES it!  She practices every day and is doing an awesome job.

This year she is going to a new school and having a hard time fitting in with the other kids.  She has never been a social butterfly but she cares about what other people think about her, of course.  She has been picked on about her feet because when she runs she is pigeon toed and so kids laugh at her but it doesn't stop her one bit. She really doesn't let it bother her too much.  I love her strong will and her motivation.  She won't let this disability get the best of her.   So when I heard this song she was dancing to for the dance class I feel in love with it.  But when I saw who sang it was even more in love with the song.  Rachel Crow from The Voice, I loved her on that show.

Here is my little girls dance routine she learned:

I hope you enjoy it!  I smile every time I watch it.

The NEW Littlest Pet Shop on THE HUB

There is a NEW girl on THE HUB!  It's not just about the PETS anymore~ Littlest Pet Shop!

The new show is on Saturdays at 11:30am ET/ 8:30am.  Lil Mama was able to watch a couple of the new episodes and fell in LOVE!  She thought she might be a bit old but she loved all the singing and dancing plus she connected with main character Blythe.  We were suppose to have a party with all her friends but I had surgery last month and was unable to put it together.  So we had a viewing party with neighbors and had a blast!  The girls loved watching the episodes plus munching on the Chocolate Popcorn daddy made for them.

About the Show

The half-hour animated comedy series follows young Blythe and her father as they move into a big city apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop – an amazing day camp for pets of all kinds including a panda, gecko, and even a mongoose. But the real adventure begins when Blythe discovers she can miraculously talk with the animals! The pets may be small, but their big personalities often lead to uproarious pop music-inspired song and dance sequences.

Go THE HUB and watch some episodes, games, and downloads.

Hope you enjoy the show as much as my Lil Mama and her neighbors did!  Wish I had pictures but the hubby forgot to take pics (ugh)!  That's what I get for being on bed rest.

APP REVIEW- Watercolour: Basic Skills in Watercolor Painting

This book includes seven fascinating lessons in watercolour painting with interactive elements and video inserts:

1. Basic brushstrokes
2. Feather brushstroke
3. Roses and buds
4. Underpainting
5. Deciduous trees
6. Coniferous trees
7. Marine (seascape)

We enjoyed the this app a lot because it does really show you the basics of watercoloring.  I felt after watching the how to's that I actually could do it.  My daughter who is 8 watched some of the tutorials and the TREES was her favorite (mine was the roses).  She actually tried but wouldn't let me post her picture and she reads my blog so I wasn't going to get in trouble. It's not really a kid app but more for that person who really wants to try watercolor painting.  My hubby says for Christmas he is going to get me some paints so I can really TRY the app out!  I will put the iPad right next to me when I paint and see what I can do.  I highly recommend this app if you want to begin watercoloring.

Please check out the APP HERE!  Also you can connect on FACEBOOK  and on YOUTUBE.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Week After My Hysterectomy Part 1

I think I'm doing pretty good with the recovery process!  I'm up and around and just about everything is working fine.  Maybe a little pain here and there but hey I've given birth to 3 kids and if I can handle that I definitely can deal with this!

On November 21 I went in for a hysterectomy because I needed one.  I won't go into any gory details just know I needed this surgery BAD!  Anyways, the Doctors wanted to do a laparoscopic hysterectomy but guess when they tried it was a no go so cut me open was the next option, ugh.  The recovery time is longer this way and I'm sure now I will never ever wear a bikini, LOL!  No worries I never was anyways.  Oh well however it got done- I'm alive and guess what NO MORE PERIODS for me, baby!  I love this and know it's going to change my life.

For the past year I  could hardly get out of bed for the week of my period and the PAIN...OMG really that was too much for me to handle.  I was going to get addicted to something real soon if the pain wasn't going to go away.  So this operation came at the perfect time.

Perfect timing for my health but NOT perfect timing for my family.  The day before Thanksgiving is when I go into hospital.  My hubby stepped up and made the family a great dinner plus they had neighbors show up with goodies.  I had a gross meal but hey I don't really remember it because I was on some STRONG drugs.  I didn't want the kids to see me with tubes all over me but it was the holiday week and everyone was busy.  I didn't want to be alone either.  They came up everyday and were troopers.  My son texted me all day every day!  He kept telling me I need to fart so I can come home.  Wish I never told him that.  He was awesome.  My daughter well this spooked her but she stayed strong for her mama!  Proud of that one!

I wanted to come home so bad that I did whatever it took to get the heck out of there.  They needed me to pass gas so I was up walking every hour.  I sat in the chair most of the day- did everything they asked.  The nurses smiled and laughed a lot with me so I don't think I was a difficult patient.  On the 3rd day I asked the Dr's if I could go home- they ohh'd and aww'd but I gave them that smile and told them I would be on my best behavior.  So within a hour I was released!!!  Woohoo I get to go home.

I'll write PART 2 tomorrow :)

A 3rd Grader Told Lil Mama She Was Annoying.

Little Mama came in after school and said "This girl says I'm annoying.  I've never heard that one before".  Really because I swear I've heard Lil Man tell her that on a daily basis but yes girls at school are different. I explained to her that not everyone is going to like her and it's OK!  She is at a new school this year and it's been rough for her but I do hope she opens up a bit more. Of course this hurt her feelings and pouted for about an hour. I went to a lot of schools growing up so I know how much she wants to be accepted and make friends.  She also told me the couple other girls told her that is is fine because they like her and not to worry about what the other girl said. It warmed my heart that she does have a support system there.

I hope I dealt with that situation the way I needed to make her feel better about herself.  I grew up with low self esteem (let's be honest-still do a little) so I don't want her to doubt herself.  I want to raise a confident girl.

How would you deal with this situation?
