Iris and the Dragonflies - Review and Giveaway - MomGoesWild

MomGoesWild
is in love with this book & she thinks you will be too!!

Am I back to reality yet? Whoa!!...Stephanie! Wake up!!

For a week now, I was instantly brought back to my childhood and I felt like I was the main character, in this book, Iris and the Dragonflies, written by Rosemary Danielis. I felt like I was that 11 year old girl again, back home, on a tiny island in Québec. I could see me, being Iris, sneaking down to the brook to play, and it's so ironic that our brooks were covered with a sea of the flowers, called Iris'.

When I started reading this book, my children were visiting my parents, on that very same island, where everything is so magical, serene, and where freedom is the attraction. Knowing my 9 year old son would love this book, and to hopefully open up his imagination while he was there, I asked him to read it as well. It was such an awesome opportunity for my son and I to connect, and relive the magical experience of Iris and my childhood, together. I have so many different connections with this book.

I really don't want to reveal too much about this book, because I have already demanded that my book buddies read this astonishing masterpiece. Although, I'm not sure if any of them will be able to connect to this book as much as I have.

It's a magical story of Iris, who is connected with her Dragonfly friends but doesn't know why. She later learns that she has special connections with not only her closest human friends, but as well with the Earth. It's one of those books that I couldn't just put away and forget about for a few days. I had to read it every lunch hour, and every night at bed time. This book covers all the important aspects of life - family, friendship, loyalty, history and imagination.

That's it! I'm not spilling another word!!! I don't want to ruin it for you.

Rosemary has such a talent with words. It was so well written and very easy to understand and feel. There were times when I couldn't help but wonder if it was written for me, as some sort of sign. I related to the setting, the main character, and most interesting of all, I relate to what Iris, the Dragon Seer, was born to protect, Her, Mother Earth.

As strange as this may sound, I almost felt like my childhood came to a halt when the book ended. I really hope that Rosemary Danielis doesn't keep my inner child locked up for too long! :)

Please visit the website for Iris and the Dragonflies and check out the Facebook fan page to learn more.

How would you like to go back to your childhood for a few hours a day and see the world through Iris's eyes? Enter below, for your chance to win, one of 5 Kindle versions and one AUTOGRAPHED paperback of Iris and the Dragonflies. That's right! 6 winners!!!

The Quick and Easy Guide to Branding Your Business and Creating Massive Sales with Pinterest- Review and Giveaway

Product Description:
Pinterest, though rhyming with interest, is only loosely related! Basically, it’s a virtual pinboard just like the corkboards we had in our rooms as kids and you may still have in your home or office. Pinterest is a social networking site that allows users to create photo collections online – like online, upscale scrapbooking. It is primarily a photo sharing website where the members are allowed to create albums pertaining to a certain theme or pattern.

Over a very short period of time, Pinterest has become one of the leading social media networks. Fairly recently, given that it launched in early 2010, the site has grown in leaps and bounds and is viewed as a strong competitor to the older social media networking websites. At present, the website attracts over 11 million visits each week, placing it among the top 10 social networks.

Over the past few years, businesses have been using social media websites for promoting and boosting their businesses. The same is the case with Pinterest. You might be wondering how a photo sharing website can help your business become a success.

This book is intended to be a guide for using Pinterest to strengthen your business and brand.

Waitress Rant~ Respect Other Customers Please!

Sometimes we have some funny stuff happen in the cafe that just makes me wonder about people.  Last weekend we had this guy sit down and his back was pretty much towards the 80% of the cafe and guess what he had plumbers crack BIG TIME.  EWWWW I know but I couldn't bring myself to tell him to cover his ASS.  I could tell several customers were laughing and others were ready to gag so I went to the owners son and asked him to say something to the dude.  He said no problem and went over to let plumber crack man know about the show he was giving to the other customers and they guy told him "so what"...huh?  Really you don't care that you are offending people with your hairy butt?  The owners son of course didn't like his comment or attitude so asked him if he could place a coat on the chair and the guy said fine but within 10 minutes put the coat back on.  At this point I knew he was just doing it to get a reaction and wasn't respecting others.  I went and put my coat on his chair, smiled and walked away.  He was fine the rest of the time and then when he left he lit up a cigarette right outside the front door and irritated more customers.  I was in the WTF mode with him at this time and walked outside and asked him to walk down a ways so the smoke didn't come into the cafe.  He was irritated but at this point I was more concerned about the other customers and their experience at the cafe then his!

I try my hardest to be the best waitress and I've been told I am but I'm not tooting my own horn.  Anyhoo, sometimes its just plain hard to please people.  You know there is people out there that no matter what you do you just can't make happy.  I try my best and that's all I can do.  Then we have the best customers EVER and you wish they would come in everyday just to make this job so much better.  Overall at the cafe I work our customers ROCK and they are the reason I do what I do with a smile on my face.

Slap Koozies Review- Fun Product!

I received this cool product to review in the mail last week and I had to put my name on it FAST because I saw the vultures (kids and hubby) eyeing and wanting it!  I use it everyday now- probably don't need to but hey its FUN!

I use it for my coffee cup, water bottle, and other drinks that I want the kids to LEAVE ALONE- I say  "See it says MOM so it's not yours"  I'm sure Slap Koozies  didn't design this product so I could keep my family away from my beverages but that is how I'm using it!  My kids LOVE to drink from my cups all the time, not sure why- maybe just to mess with me!  Plus when I had a iced coffee drink the other day I put it on and my hands didn't get cold when I drank it.

I also see how this would be a great way to brand a product.  If I had a company I would buy these for my employees with the company's logo on it! You can buy in bulk and customize the slap koozies

From Slap Koozies website

The SlapKooler™ band is a banded 'slap koozie' beverage insulator that you can 'slap' on your can, bottle, arm, leg, friends, or people you just meet. Many people call it a 'slap koozie' or a 'slap wrap', but we call the SlapKoolerTM the next generation of awesome. Dual metal recoiling bands slap the neoprene koozie insulator around your can or bottle, just as it's appeal wraps itself around your heart!

Fun Ways To Use Your SlapKoolerTM:

  • Keeping your beverage cold and your hands warm.
  • Wristbands!
  • A way to reminisce about the 80's
  • Promoting your brand
  • Promoting your product or company
  • Dress up your beverage and start a unique conversation
  • Ankle warmers!

I've Been Banned From Using the Word "Play Date"

My 10 yr old son last night informed me NOT to call his "hanging out with his friends" PLAY DATES anymore. Oh... my bad!  Yesterday, I asked a dad if we could get our kids together for a play date and my son kicked me.  I thought at first he didn't want me asking but then the look on his face made me think...WTH did I say wrong! So when we got back home he informed me how embarrassing I was asking for a "playdate".  Hold on Buddy...I've been using PLAY DATE for years now and didn't realize play date sounded so babyish to you until now.  I asked him what he would rather have me say and "hanging with his friends" was the response I got.  Hmmmm... so I guess next time I will say "Mr. K can our boys HANG OUT soon"   Just wait my son,  I'm sure there are going to be far more times I embarrass you and I will do it with a smile on my face just like my parents did!

Review: Eraselet- Bracelet Eraser

REVIEW: I have to say what a cute product. Erasers are always being lost at our house- not even sure where they go but hey these Eraselets have worked wonders all week.  I even caught my 10 yr old using one the other night when he told me earlier those are too babyish for him.  I showed my daughter to turn it inside out and use a finger to help erase, it took her a couple times but now she is PRO!   She wore a couple the other to school and when she came home she didn't have any on, she gave them out.  I recommend Eraselet Braclet Eraser!

Want to WIN your own Eraselets:  ENTER HERE

PRODUCT INFO: The Eraselet® was designed for porous paper such as notebook paper, elementary lined paper, construction paper, low-end copy paper, newspaper; paper that kids use everyday in schools across America!  The Eraselet® is not recommended for laser copy paper, glossy paper or paper that has a film on it.  The most common way to use the Eraselet is to simply stretch it to the tip of your thumb or index finger and erase- use it inside out though so the outside stays clean :)

REVIEW- Ouidad Climate Control Frizz & Flyaway Fighter

I received a sample of Climate Control Frizz and Flyaway Fighter and  Climate Control Shampoo and Conditioner.  I have to say I really love this product.  I used it for both my hair and Lil Mama's hair.  If you have Curly Hair please try Ouidad products I know you won't be disappointed.

My hair is so long and thick  right now that I get mad everyday trying to style it so its usually in a rubber band on top of my head.   The past 3 days (since using these products) my hair hangs so nice and NOT FRIZZY!  Yesterday,  I went to the grocery store and 4 people came up and told me  "What beautiful hair you have"  one lady even touched it and said she always wished for hair like mine.  My hubby even noticed the NO FRIZZ and asked what I did different.  Sorry to say I'm not going to post pics because I don't like having my picture taken with my double chins, LOL!   With the compliments I've received I'm going to tell you that it works just wonderfully on my thick wavy long hair!

Now my daughter's hair is a big thorn in my butt because everyday it starts dreading up no matter what, so its usually in pony tails or braids.  I love her hair down but it takes a lot of work and within a couple hours its all dreaded and frizzy again.  Yesterday,  I washed her hair with the Climate Control Shampoo & Conditioner then combed through it with no fight!  When I was done I sprayed the Control Frizz and Flyaway fighter and BAM this is what she looked like!  We all loved her hair!  All night I was saying "Oh I love your hair".  When she got up this morning I just had to spray some water and the Frizz control on it and she was ready to go!  That hasn't happen all school year!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Review: Perfect Energy- New Chapter Organics

Last week I received a 5 day supply of PERFECT ENERGY and PERFECT CALM.  I decided to do "1" each week so last week I did Perfect Energy and I loved it.  In the past I've taken energy "vitamins" and felt jumpy and jittery all day but Perfect Energy didn't do that so THANK YOU New Chapter Organics.

I took one 3 times a day (morning, afternoon and evening) and I was very productive through out the whole day.  My house was clean everyday and I'm not saying that it gave me energy to SPRING CLEAN (lol) no but I kept up on everything everyday with little effort.  Usually, I pick 1 or 2 days that I do housework but last week I did something everyday and wow that felt good.  What felt the best is I wasn't wanting to sleep after I got off work or just veg out in front of the TV. Also as some of vitamins that I have taken in the past I had a hard time falling asleep at night, not this time.

I was very productive last week and I have Perfect Energy to thank for that!  This week I will be testing the Perfect Calm

PERFECT ENERGY:
Product Info:  A complete multi-vitamin, Perfect Energy contains a combination of 23 whole-food vitamins and minerals formulated to promote optimal health while targeting the nutrients your body needs to sustain energy production, like whole-food complexed Vitamins B, C, E, and Selenium.* Yet another unique feature of Perfect Energy is the Vital Rhythms blend of flower essences which encourages mental focus, fortitude, and perseverance during times of stress.

Next Monday I will post my review on the Perfect Calm.  I will need it this week for sure~ I have a Book Fair I need to get ready for, finish off the Read-a-Thon this Friday, PTA Meeting on Thursday, plus all the other 100 projects I have going.

Want more info on New Chapter Organic Products: http://www.bestpricenutrition.com/new-chapter.html

I did receive a 5 day Free Trial of the Perfect Energy and Perfect Calm and my view on this product are my very own.  I will not endorse a product that I haven't tried myself.

Drive-In Movie Theaters ROCK!

Last night we went to a Drive-In Movie Theater with some friends and had a blast. I grew up on Drive-In Movies and was so excited when I found one in our area (have to drive about 30 minutes but so worth it). The LORAX was playing and so we made it happen. What a BIG DIFFERENCE in cost though- for myself and 2 kids it was $9.00 total to get in. We brought our own dinner (Subway) and bought snacks there but to save money BRING YOUR OWN EVERYTHING! The volume comes through a radio station so no more of those boxes we had to put on our windows back in the day. I recommend pillows and blankets too! We saw people BBQ'ing and just having a good time. So check if you have a Drive In near you and I highly recommend going and having a AWESOME FAMILY NIGHT for little money!

BTW the LORAX was a wonderful movie!

Mom Does Reviews-Soda Stream Giveaway

Make your own Soda in under 30 seconds!

The Soda Stream Product:

Making carbonated water and soft drinks is simple! Turn tap water into sparkling water in under 30 seconds, with no clean-up. Enjoy the freshness and convenience of homemade soda and protect the environment at the same time. No heavy bottles to carry, store at home or throw away. Fizz to your taste and add the flavor of your choice to make your favorite drink. Simple to clean and reuse. With a variety of colors and silhouettes, you'll be sure to find a soda maker to match with any decor. SodaStream is an "Active Green" product, meaning that consumers are actively reducing their CO2 footprint every time they make soda or sparkling water at home instead of buying it from the store. The more the system is used on a daily basis, the more CO2 footprint the user actively saves. Using your own soda make means:
  • Less packaging waste from cans and bottles.
  • Less pollution caused by transport of bottled beverages.
One SodaStream carbonator makes 60 or 110 liters, equivalent to 170 or 310 aluminum cans! When empty, the carbonator is refilled and reused, ready to make more fizzy and tasty soda whenever you want it.
; Review by Mom Does Reviews: I was so excited to receive my Soda Stream in the mail. But, I think my son was even more excited! He carried one of the heavy boxes up 2 flights of stairs to open it. ( He's only 9, and most of the time complains about carrying groceries up the stairs.) I was very impressed with the packing of the Soda Stream. Everything was secure and protected, nothing could get broken in shipping. I unpacked both boxes and I must admit, I was a little overwhelmed at first. It seemed like there were so many pieces to assemble. Here is what came in my two boxes: Normally I let my husband assemble things, but I wanted to put it together on my own. If I can put it together, anyone can! The instruction booklet was very thick, that made me nervous at first, until I realized it was in 10 languages. The only pages that applied were the first two. Soda Stream makes it easy for anyone to put it together. It has step by step directions with pictures and with text. If I questioned myself just by looking at the pictures, I read to text too, just to be safe. So, after all my nervousness, it only took my 5 minutes to put it together. The carbonator had to be screwed in just right and the two main pieces put together. That was about it for assembly! The fun part is making your own soda. The special liter bottles that come with the soda stream need to be filled with tap water to the fill line. You place the bottle under the carbonator and screw it in place. Then you press the button 3 times for average amount of fizz. I wasn't sure if I had done it quite right, so I pushed the carbonator button about 5 times for our first liter of homemade soda. Needless to say, our Black Currant/pear soda was extra fizzy. But it was delicious! Remember to put the in flavoring after you carbonate the water. Pour it in slowly with the bottle tilted and shake slightly. Pour your homemade soda over ice and enjoy! My son got creative with his flavor. He mixed half Cola and half Cranberry/Raspberry. I liked his "Berry Coke" better than my Black Currant/pear soda. Kids are smart and they know what they like. He loved it! Overall, I would highly recommend The Soda Stream to anyone who is interested in making their own soda. Other than the great taste, it has many more benefits. It saves on buying soda at the store. It saves your back, no more lugging soda from the grocery store, to the car, to the pantry. It is so convenient, no need to go to the store to buy soda, you can make your own! It helps out environment: think of all those 2-liter bottles that aren't being thrown away! It has a third of the calories compared to regular Pepsi or Coke, for example:
